Water Usage Reading Process
a. Water is pulled, on demand, through the meter when faucets, toilets, washing machines, etc. are used. In some instances, homes have a meter located in a PIT outside near the curb stop. These meters are able to detect leaks in the homeowner’s service line and will be reflected in the homes metered usage.
b. As the water runs through the meter, the register on top of the meter records the water used.
c. The register sends this information to a radio mounted on your house or on a post mounted in your yard.
d. The usage information is then sent to the two towers located within the Community that forward this information on to our main office.
e. Hourly readings are recorded in the SENSUS Meter Reading software database server, where it is available for reporting. This information can be accessed daily to detect high use issues and is utilized at the end of a billing quarter to download a quarterly usage report to the Visual Utility Billing (VUB) program for bill generation.
